Synth forum ?

I've decided we need an extra keyboard for several songs, and I would like to pick the brains of synth types regarding getting a hardware midi sound module.  As wonderful as computer based soft-synths sound, I just can't trust a laptop to not crash or lockup, get covered in beer or nicked in a gigging environment.

Does anyone know of a decent synth forum ?

I come from a MIDI studio background and I would recommend the soundonsound forum.

Plus I would say  an old Roland JV-1080 or 2080 or a Korg Trinity or Triton Rack. Lots of basic pianos, strings and synth patches.

Loads of sounds, cheap as chips and very roadworthy. Lots of expansion cards available for these as well.

If you want something more 'tweakable' and more analog synth like then an old Nord Lead Rack 1 or 2 are again very roadworthy and easy to use live.
