I woke up on Monday morning this week with a burning desire to get a USA 62 Reissue Stratocaster . . . F**k knows why !!!!! . . OK I was born in 1962 but to fund it I'd have to sell my Cobain Jag and then chuck some money in the pot . . . . I love my Jag . . and money I don't have, genuinely . . GAS drives me nuts . . . I'm not even gigging !!! . . . GAS is relentless . . AAAaaaarrrrrggghhhhh . .

Buy loads of guitars.

Realise that you only ever play 2 or 3 of them because those 2 or 3 are so much better than all the rest. 

Then every time you think about buying something else, ask yourself which of the 2 or 3 you'd be happy to part with.

Being happy is about wanting what you have, not having what you want ...

You'll never be happy, that's just the way it is. There'll always be the missing 5-10%, and the law of diminishing returns.

I'm selling 2 to fund a thinline tele, haven't sold either yet but I've ended up buying a Squier Affinity strat with the intention of modding it. Oh, and some second hand Iron Gear pups for it. And there's my G4M tele kit I'm slowly building, as well as the offset project that's 90% done. I'm after a new practice amp too, and a cab. I'm sure there'll be something else tomorrow too.

I'm currently in GAS remission.

I did recently buy an amp stand that tilts back so I can hear what I'm playing, but I told myself that doesn't count that because it's an hearing/age thing, which makes it OK.

I have a 2 stage plan:

1. keep money available at all times, buy every attractive bargain immediately without planning, keep going until you have every variation

2. Realise you have too many, and sell all but your favourites, safe in the knowledge that you have tried everything you want to own

I just have trouble getting onto stage 2

@ToneControl I have done exactly that over the years but the problem is, you look at your guitar history with rose-tinted glasses, so your doomed to repeat it!

I'm pretty GAS free these days. I don't want any more amps, I don't buy FX, I have realised that I am pretty much a 1 guitar person. I only play my no 1 guitar really, and I'm happy the one I have.

I'd quite like to build a tele with trem. Started about 6 months ago but it's going VERY slow. I'd also like to build an LP at some point down the line.
