With so many great fuzz pedals around,I can't imagine why you would need a built in fuzz circuit. Most people are quite picky about fuzz tones.

just read Amptweaker are putting out a doom metal pedal, based on the tightmetal pedal.

whats with mainstream companies catering to the doom community?

I think they have figuered out we are the blues lawyers of metal! ;)

Looks Vaguely Familiar. Perhaps Randalls take on the Green Electric/Matamp style Amps? If so then count me very interested.

  • @samzadgan I might have found a low wattage high gainer you'd like. The kaos sludge.

Demo from ola shows it doing... Well, his style, but from the name it might give out some sludgey sounds too.

There is also a 30 watt 6l6 version. I have to admit, on listening closely to the ola demo and comparing with other big amps, it still has that small power valve sound, but not too much.

i have high hopes for this...randall has never disappointed me before, they do build them well.

@theprettydamned i watched that demo, it does sound pretty fat...even Ola couldnt make it sound too tight!!

blurb says "Some things in music are obviously inspired. There is a famous interview with Ozzy in which he talks about how Black Sabbath’s sound evolved in the early days: “We were just a blues band and then it took on an ELEMENT OF DOOM…”
So, In the spirit of that early pioneering of heavy metal, we have created the EOD88. With 3 gain modes, KT88 power design and a built in fuzz circuit, this amp personifies old school but within a fresh modern approach and appeal."
"I'll probably be in the bins at Newport Pagnell services."  fretmeister

Yeah read that...given the ref to Sabbath im thinking they've done some sort of Laney Klipp type amp

I like the all-in-one faceplate approach. Could be quite a nice idea on a less childish amp. Could make it from tortoiseshell pickguard material and do your writing with an engraver through to the white, etc etc etc.

I agree, but if cheap and reliable, then makes a good back

Doesn't that principle apply to ALL types of built-in amp distortion?
I'm not disagreeing, I only use non-MV amps for that very reason.

^Yes,I suppose you're right.I guess I'm not that keen on high gain preamp distortion.

Nah not really, at least in my opinion. I haven't tried a pedal that sounds or feels like a high gain tube preamp, whereas I've tried plenty of fuzz pedals which sound like, er, fuzz pedals. :D

Don't get me wrong, you're absolutely entitled to not like them (and for certain things you'd likely want pedals anyway, even I would :D), but the reason (expensive) high gain tube amps still exist is that, for the people who like them anyway, there's no real substitute. Well, there is (pedals) but they're inferior for that type of tone, at least in my opinion.

^There's the problem,I haven't tried any expensive high gain amps so I can only go by the amps I have used which have all been non master volumes. I'm pretty much reliant on pedals for high gain.
