Any Docklight users in the house?

I use it on a Windoze PC to monitor my RS485 bus. Recently it has started locking up for no readily apparent reason, although I did suspect it could be related to a recent Windoze update. A colleague who knows Mickeysoft PCs a lot better than I do tried a System Restore but that hasn't solved the problem.

During a google expedition I found that updating the display windows is one of Docklight's most time consuming tasks, so I disabled everything except Hex (which is the only display mode I use anyway). It runs, but the scrolling is not smooth, and pauses every second. So far it has continued to run for 5 min, but in the past I used to leave it running for days and it never showed any sign of distress. So what has changed since then?
