Dud CD

What's Hot
Somebody burned a CD for me. It sounds like an off-tune radio station. background noise that pulsates in & out behind the music, that kind of thing.

What's gone wrong?

Are you playing it at 33 or 45?

I asked my 12 year old son who's really good with technology and he asked me,"What's a CD?"

  • I would guess that issue is with the source since if the cd was corrupted, being a digital medium i would expect stuttering and dropouts rather than background nose.

I believe the source was analogue. There is a small amount of stuttering occasionally.

Could it be one of those CDs with a thicker (thinner?) layer between the surface and the recording layer?

Think the OP might have discovered why the CD was in the charity shop....

  • It wasn't in a charity shop. It was burned by someone I used to drink with from (unknown) analogue sources, probably bootlegs.
