Suggest a simple & cheap way to record guitar....

I have a computer [running Windows 7] and looking for suggestions on how to use it to record riffs and general musical ideas.  A simple way to add bass and overdubs would be a great help too. And what software is easiest to use.  Better if it came bundled with the 'box' but if it is easy to use.... Thanks.

Presonus audiobox? I have Roland cakewalk interface that works with Sonar that I may be offloading?

I have the same need. As a complete newbie to recording guitar I can't claim to offer a recommendation, but I have my eye on the Focusrite Scarlett Solo. It comes bundled with Ableton Live Lite and a bunch of other bits & bobs. It looks ideal and won't break the bank or relations with the budget approver.

Reaper is excellent and you get a couple of months free trial so you can see if it's for you. You'll need a USB interface though - Focusrite are good.
