Powered/ Active , Monitor/ Speaker Recommendations

I have a Wharfedale Titan 12A which is deceased. It was working fine but then just stopped working -  power shut off accompanied by a nasty "burning electric" smell.....I've checked the fuse and that's fine. Having described the symptoms to my local amp tech, he thinks it might be game over......so, I'm looking for a replacement. It would be used as a floor monitor when gigging to either let me hear a floor-based processor and send a feed to the board OR be used as a personal monitor taking a vocal/ guitar feed from the PA.

I have the following requirements:

• No more than £300 (ideally less!)
• Minimum of 2 inputs
• Compact and lightweight
• At least as loud as the Wharfedale
• Reliable

I'm tempted by the compactness of some of the powered 10" speakers but would go to a 12" and am happy to look at used gear.

Current shortlist is EV ZLX12p, Alto TS110A or Yamaha DBR10

Any comments or suggestions from real world users?

I don't know whether you can stretch to its price (perhaps used?) but the QSC K10 is very good in this kind of application.

It sounds great in real life and it has an unusually flexible set of inputs and output sockets/ controls.

If you want to stay within your budget then I have used the Mackie SRM350 for floor monitors many times and it does the job pretty well. It is certainly compact, lightweight and loud. It's reasonably reliable apart from the quality of the power switch, which I've had to tape down on one of the three I use. It only has one input but do you really need more than one if you are taking a feed from the mixing desk? Can't you just get your sound person to give you a feed containing the appropriate balance of instruments, processor and vocals?
