So fill me in.. what's good what's bad, what's the best for a cheap option? Just looking for something to use to record my Friedmans without having them blastingly loud. Don't want to spend a fortune so looking for the best cheap option.

Cheapest option is to build your own resistive attenuator.
100 watt unit all up with case and jacks should come in under £50. Quite surprised nobody does a kit?
Yup, just found Arcol 50watters at well under a fiver.
