What do you do here?

New girl in work started, she's lazy, literally sits for 20 minutes on her phone/plays with her hair at the start of the day, goes missing for 20 minutes a couple times a day. She started last Thursday and on Friday afternoon got bollocked for watching Eastenders on her computer (we have 2 screens, half of hers was Eastenders...) 

Today she's come in 2 1/2 hours late....and done not much-I know as I've given her some work and it's not done yet....

Now this kind of behaviour doesn't bother me and I'm not one to go to the boss but, it brings me under scrutiny which is fine as I get my work done,but we've got a good thing going at my work-it's relaxed, pretty chilled-I'm here now typing this for example and she could bring a stricter working environment on us all.....

Normally this kind of thing is pounced upon and she'd get shipped out, but my boss is weak and it could carry on for a few months.....

Quiet word in her ear is what I'm thinking, but I don't think it would make any difference....

My boss floored one of my colleagues in't th'office the other day by saying he's seen that she's changed her Facebook profile pictures.........and though there was no way in hell he could've known it, it was a good bluff as the two of the women in my office live on Facebook here.

I'm keeping away from social media at work........

Yeah we all do a bit of checking private stuff (most of us anyway) and I'm fine with that, I wouldn't want to work somewhere where you're treated like a kid and there's a blanket ban on everything. I know when to work and when not to I just can't be arsed with any suspensions of privilege because some people can't play the game...

Like I say I'm not bothered how much work she does as she'll get found out sooner or later and her work doesn't really mean anyone else has a tonne more to do. She just needs to be a bit more discrete...then get sacked because she's shit. (I'd have sacked her Friday to be honest)

Oooh careful, that could lead to much HR botherment.

My advice, let her get on with it, and get your own stuff done.

That's what I'll probably do but like I say I can see everyone being tarred with the same brush and things having to tighten up round here for a few weeks before we're treated like adults again-It's happened before.

I should add that on the Friday I got called in to the headmistresses office after the Eastenders incident and told to watch my internet usage-having been sat at a colleagues desk all day training......
