D. I consider myself to be a mediocre guitarist. I REALLY enjoy it, but I'm resigned to never being as good as I'd like (I don't have time to properly apply myself to it in the way I KNOW it needs). Instead, I drool over the porn you guys post & wonder if THAT is the guitar that would make the noise I hear in my head. Whilst knowing that the guitarist makes the sound, the guitar is the conduit for their talent & dedication.

Therefore it is not impossible to categorise (read pigeon-hole) people.

If you are being incredibly simplistic, which of course is the original basis of this thread.

There will also be many acquaintances of Neil who like/dislike/couldn't care less about him/ to the nth degree.

So no easy categorisations.

All this "practice and determination will make you a better player" rubbish pisses me off, its a proven fact that that vintage Japanese oddity in beat up condition with no bids and 20 mins to go WILL make me better!
