NPD - Zoom MS-70CDR

It arrived this morning so all I've been able to do with it is have a quick look in the box. Can't wait to have a play tonight! Hopefully now I'll be able to organise my board and get everything velcro'd down too. I'm hoping that the PSU for my G1XN is the same one that this requires cos my HB PP jr won't run it.

I'll post my initial reactions to it later when I'm home.

Oh, anyone know where I can get Shadows settings? I don't mind paying.

Congrats! - Have fun with it, it's a great pedal! I use it at the end of my pedal chain. Liked it so much, I bought an MS50 to go in the loop of my EHX Superego. And I've just bought a G3.

I think they are terrific value and a real "swiss-army-knife" of a pedal.

Wow! £20 for an email of some settings you then have to manually programme in yourself! I'm in the wrong job!

Congrats @hobbio, I think you'll be happy with it. I do wish they would include all the MS70CDR models on the G3 sometimes, there are some nice ones.

I compared the MS-100BT to this one  before I decided which to go for, and this one suits my intended purpose (modulation effects only, in the loop) much better. I'd never use the amp sims or drive models, and this one has more modulation fx. Shame that I can't purchase additional models for this one like you can with the 100BT, but hey ho. I can't wait to play with the shimmer model!

@Megii I've not forgotten that book btw, I'm still waiting for it to be delivered. I did mention that it may simply not turn up, although it's marked as dispatched with an estimated delivery date of up to 3/3/15.

Yeah, I've ended up buying a couple of pedals that you've complimented. I've got a Source Audio programmable EQ too.

Me too. I had the MS-50G and didn't like it and I didn't need the overdrive and amp models, which weren't great.
This model has proved to be a "Swiss Army Knife" pedal and is so much better. It's more than just a chorus-delay-reverb pedal, although they're the main featured fx.

I use it as my tuner, but it's main use is as second delay to my Flashback and some chorusing. 

The pitch effects are decent and I have a patch set up for an octave below, 5ths (very Owner of a Lonely Heart and Steve Vai) and a harmony in D for....err Abba songs "Mama Mia" and "Knowing me knowing you". I also like the guitar swells on it. The only effect that isn't quite to my liking is the phaser (I need something funkier) but it may suit a lot of people.

I've not set up presets in a cycle for live use but I have stored the ones I like in the User bank and as I only use one per song, I just bend down and change it - lazy bones!

It's a lot of pedal for the money and I hope you enjoy it and manage to program your Shadow's sounds.

The learning curve on these things are fairly steep. I would call myself fairly tech savvy but it's only after a year, I'd say I'm comfortable with the zoom system. And by that, I mean I can dial the pedal in quickly without being frustrated and use it effectively.

Since there are so many effects, even just scrolling through them looking for the one you want to use can be annoying, let alone setting the effects up to give you the sound you want. However, it's very rewarding when you know how to work around it.

That's my shadows settings experience. If you just wanted to mess around with slap back and shimmer, you'll be fine.

I've got a couple of things I'll be aiming for (not Shadows lol), but mainly I'll be looking to do my own thing with it. But yeah, the first thing I'll do if mess around with the shimmer model.

Why not ? Mine works fine on a HB PP jr ....

@sticker Oh, I've not tried it. I just read that it needs a 500ma supply. Will it run off a single output then? I don't have enough spare to double it.

Yup , I've not noticed any issues using a single output . I must admit to not even checking the Ma draw as it lasts about 3 to 4 hours on 2 AA batteries or can be powered by a usb charger . Great pedals ! Have fun !
