“Look, honestly, I haven’t killed that many people,” Read said in an interview with The New York Times earlier this year, “probably about four or seven, depending on how you look at it.’

RIP HITLER! YOUR BIGSBY'S WERE SHIT!

  • Can I say at this point that by starting this thread and using R.I.P I in no way want to condone or trivialise anything that Read did.
I just though I would bring it to the attention of the forum as he's a figure that many people may be aware of.

He played for Brentford for half a season or so.  A waste of space, frankly.   Also a deeply unpleasant individual off the pitch, too.

He woz a luvverly bloke, he didnt go robbing old ladies like the young uns today and he only killed his own kind and dirty grasses. He was always a gent when we met and he loved his dear old mother. A credit to society. Should be more like him about.

  • Can't say I'm all broken up, even less so because Wikipedia credits him as being a "Rapper" as well as a Criminal and an Author.

Now, that really is unforgivable :-D

Not just a nasty piece of work- there was more to him than that (note, I am not disagreeing that he was a nasty piece of work).
My Dad had a bit to do with him- he was a cop in Australia during the 70's-90's and had a lot of stories about Chopper.
Proper nutter and a real character.

He did have a moral code, although highly individual.
He didn't rob or bash people who weren't already criminals themselves.

I earn my crust working with, and contributing to, the risk management of High Risk of Harm offenders/ex-offenders/service users (Jesus.....). I can appreciate both views expressed thus far entirely. Especially regarding victim empathy.

However, at least the bloke had a 'bit of something' about him. Nothing more twatful than working with some fucker who couldn't give two shits about the society around him/her, or the people in it. That's my personal opinion, not my professional one.
