Anyone own either or both of these? I'm gonna pick one up soon but want opinions regarding both, Is one more versatile than the other, or are they essentially the same unit with a different cover? having read enough reviews I'm leaning to the Alter Ego solely for the Echorec sounds on it, having owned an echorec before and loved it yet regrettably sold it.

The alter ego has some custom voices that were worked on with PGS. The echorec being the main focus.

Personally I think you can get a nicer delay units for cheaper. Something about the TC Electronic delays sound stale to me.
I had an alter ego for a while but I couldn't fall in love with the sounds, I felt the DL4 sounded nicer.

    YMMV etc etc
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I have the Alter Ego x4.

Remember that you can load any of the regular Flashback Toneprints into it (you have 4 Toneprint slots), so it'll do everything the regular Flashback x4 does, plus you get the "exclusive" vintage delays that aren't available to download (although there are plenty of vintage style delays in the standard Toneprint library).

If you're into wobbly delays then it's great.

TC Delays are really good. But their pedals are usually a bit of a faff, mainly the tap tempo business. But my Disaster Area SmartClock will solve that! I'm planning on getting a triple delay shortly.

we need to know which order is best:

    Alter Ego X4 > Flashback X4 > Triple

    Alter Ego X4 > Triple > Flashback X4

    Flashback X4 > Triple > Alter Ego X4

    Flashback X4 > Alter Ego X4 > Triple

    Triple > Flashback X4 > Alter Ego X4

    or Triple > Alter Ego X4 > Flashback X4
