Is it noisier without strings (as I'm doing a build) or does it just mean I have a grounding issue?

Not getting any noise with the pickups in parallel.

    If there are no strings it will be noisier, especially if you aren't touching anything grounded on the guitar.

    Many thanks for the response. Just strung it up and you're right. A massive difference in noise now.
