Foam for cases ?

I bought a nylon case for my keyboard from Thomann (above) and I need to pack the inside with foam to stop the keyboard sliding about.  I nipped up to Dunelm but they want £25 for a single block big enough, and I'd need two !  I'm not spending fifty quid on foam !

I then thought about maybe using that expanding foam in a can stuff.... line the case with clingfilm, wrap the keyboard in clingfilm, fill the case with expanding foam, sit the keyboard in it until it sets.   .....but I don't know how durable that canned stuff is.  Anyone know ?

...or have any other suggestions for cheap, firm padding ?

Where do you live? I make foam for a living, and could get you some block for free. I'm in Manchester.

You should be able to get upholstery foam for a lot less than £25 per block. I got some in a fabric shop in Guildford, 2 blocks 1" thick 12" square for a fiver. @rocktron's suggestion is a good one.

Unfortunately, the case is 980 x 430 x 170 mm, so I'm still looking at £50-ish.

If you wrap the keyboard in the band's backdrop you may need a lot less extra packing. 

BTW I've got one of them cases, I use it for my pedalboard. It does the job, but the straps never sit flat in the steel loops at the side, they always scrunch up to one end of the loop.

dont use the foam and cling film method. It keeps expanding for ages.
