    we can all slag him off but lets admire his honesty. he's been upfront about what he is and isnt prepared to do. usually that all comes out months down the line.  he's been honourable and resigned, not just not shown up. thank him and move on.

    In my experience where you have a covers band with a band leader, the leader does all the work and pays the staff. I've done it in the past and and never asked how much the band leader got. It was a job.

    It sounds like your bass player thought it was one of those bands as you are the band leader. I'm suprised he didnt ask to be paid for rehearsals. :)

    It's a covers band but no I ask for all of us to help although I do the most but don't get paid more. Maybe I should change that part at least ;)

    If you are making phones calls, sending emails, going to venues/buying drinks and nobody else is you should consider it. Some band leaders take 2 cuts.

    I did introduce a 10% of the final fee for the band member who was proactive in getting the gig but that fell on deaf ears too.
