50s Gibson Wiring in a Fender Style Guitar

Came across an article last night showing how to change the original Tele / Strat wiring to a 50's Gibson wire.Seems pretty easy, just moving one wire.Benefits are said to include low treble loss when backing off volume, more presence and more interaction with the volume and tone pots.Was wondering if anyone uses it and what they make of it..are there any downsides?

I'm going to be wiring up my Ibanez properly soon, I was messing about with different pickups and wiring options. Now I've settled on a layout I'm not going to touch it when it's done. Was wondering if I should stick to the original 'Leo' way or take a punt on the 50's stylee

Did it with my tele and rhe neck pickup is a lot nicer with the volume rolled back. Used to get very dark before
