I was thinking of joining to keep up with bands etc.

I do, mainly for radio show, great for getting in touch with bands etc Like anything great if used carefully.

I use it as a personalised news feed, followings bands, and stuff related to what i'm interested in.

The band uses it quite a lot to advertise gigs.

Yes. I find it quite entertaining on occasion. Some people are very amusing on it - some aren't.

I only tend to follow people who I'm genuinely interested.

Don't follow your mates, just follow specific stuff you like. And want to hear about.

I only use it to spam gigs to be honest...

Some great running commentary on TV shows - Twitter made Eurovision almost bareable. The downside is that any gags you come up with will/have been done by someone else within 15 seconds.

It is good to keep up with stuff youre interested in.  I use it to keep up with train and travel updates only.

I don't tweet because I don't want to bore people but I sometimes read tweets, there are some entertaining comments on there and I suppose it keeps you up to date with popular culture.

I joined twitter 2 years ago. I think I looked at it once. If I can finally pass my grade 1 arsehole exam I'll probably start trolling ...... er....... you bastard.

Started using recently. Follow some music stuff, and for that its good, but it is starting to get a little overwhelming.

But...Ive found some really good stuff, releases, articles etc that I would't have known about otherwise.

I do not tweet.
I talk enough crap, verbally, without resorting to publishing it and inflicting my tripe on other people.

HOwever, I've had a running thought along the lines of that blogger turned author who did the "Shit My Dad Says" thing. Mine would be "Shit My Dad Does and Has Done". Genuinely that would be, I think, a good read. He is a loon and has done some ace daft things over the years. The only man I know who has a proper lack of fear and an absence of sense of proportion.

I used to but don't much anymore. In the process of a big cull to try and just keep the stuff that actually interests me. So much is just dull self-promo, but it can be really good. Some of the F1 people on there are good. 

It's also really useful for complaining to corporations - they respond better to grumpy tweets than anything else these days.

No. MrsTheWeary follows a lot of comedians so lot of jokes/ puns on current events.
She also follows one of her favourite authors ( some vampire thing) and has little tweeted conversations with him, which is neat as its not somebody she would be likely to have contact in any other way.
She also tweets Stuart Marconi when we spot him locally ( I think he may have moved now though) but he never responds; he'd rather use Twitter to promote a book signing than admit he was in the tea and coffee aisle in Tesco.
