Favourite Octaver? (Build or bought)

frankusfrankus Frets: 4719
I'm looking to build an octaver, I must say I'm wary of building one with transformer as I'm worried the ones I can easily lay my hands on aren't the right ones...

So any recommendations?
A sig-nat-eur? What am I meant to use this for ffs?! Is this thing recording?

what you after? Up or down? Both together?
    Oct -/+ 2 ? etc
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Fuzz Dog posted a photo of a prototype with a transformer on his facebook page. Sounds like a good bet.

Go for a whammy 5, the octave harmony up is good and the price is right on Amazon

the pitchfork is good as well for 1/8th the pedal board space of a whammy.
Line 6 m5 does all your ocatve stuff and can use an expression pedal (same as pitch fork)

Was kinda looking for fuzz octave stuff - it's a different sound to pitch shifters :)

sorry mate I was half reading.
The M5 does one.... not sure how good it is.

The pigtronix Distnortion had a great octavia sound on it.
The Malekko fuzz does some octave up stuff

I have never actually tried one, but I really like the look of the Bigfoot Octo Puss. Totally passive, needs to go after another pedal. http://www.bigfootengineering.com/octave.html

  • I loved the octave sound on the visual sound angry fuzz. Super cool pedal! If it was a boutique pedal, people would go nuts for it.
