Putting DVD onto iPad

Please can someone suggest the best way to load a DVD onto my iPad? Last time I downloaded free conversion software, I ended up with malware on my pc. Thanks.

I know my son has done this.He loves techradar so it is probably whatever is recommended on @wibble 's link. The only one he had problems with when I got him to have a go at a Hotlicks instructional one. Basically the ripping software sees it as about 25 different mini movies so it is doable but very long winded.
