WITHDRAWN: Hughes and Kettner Puretone 1x12 Combo

Up for trade is my Hughes and Kettner Puretone combo.

For those not in the know it is Hughes and Kettners top of the range (partially) point to point hand wired tone monster. RRP new is over £2,000.

As you would expect it's incredibly well made no expense spared stuff, (dovetailed birch ply cabinet etc).

It's single channel, Class A, EL34, Vintage 30, with a power soak and a tonestack bypass which takes it from very Fendery sounding to more of an aggressive voxy thing.

It is face meltingly loud and has plenty of clean headroom for even fairly big gigs.

This is the best amp I've ever owned and I love it to bits, but I really want to move to a head and cab so I can explore AxeFX/Kemper without having to have two big boxes in my house. 

To that end I'm looking for trades and PX deals considering: Valve Heads (must have excellent cleans and ideally a Puretone head), cabs (1x12 or 2x12), powered monitors, solid state power amps (Matrix etc), Kemper heads. 

Feel free to suggest other things, but no combos.

I'd also entertain selling it for offers around £700 WITHDRAWN

Yes I can do you some pics. 

It's in "gigged" condition (i.e. the tolex shows some signs of wear). It also has a Rocsolid cover included.

Are you sure it's handwired? I thought these were PCB based, could be wrong though. Do you have a pic of the guts?

I had one of these in a head - brilliant amp but be warned ....they're super loud! There is a sweet spot if you have nimble fingers! Not sure if the combo is the same?

I don't I'm afraid. 

Having done some research it's partially handwired. The controls on the top are on a PCB, but the valves etc are point to point wired.

Absolutely it's face meltingly loud. I think H&K did themselves a bit of a disservice by claiming it's 25 Watts when it's one of the most insanely loud amps I've heard. It's way louder than something like a blackstar HT40 for example.

I should also add Guitarist put it on the cover of the 25th Anniversary issue as one of the best products they had reviewed in the last 25 years.

It does indeed

Some of that is the magic of the Liquid Sunshine, but it is an epic amp.

Not a horrible idea. Keep the old cab just in case, have the chassis put into a head and continue with the best tone you've found.

Just checked with someone in the know and it looks like a head conversion is not feasible. 

Might just have to try and buy a head version and sell this.
