Just tried one of the new Magnatone amps, the Single V.

In case you are unaware, the original Magnatone amps were made in the 50s and 60s and had a really cool vibrato effect that is often wrongly called "pitch shifting" when if fact it is really a phase shifter.

Regardless, it's a really cool effect, and can be heard on loads of records from the 60s including virtually anything by the great Lonnie Mack (who incidentally also used a Flying V which a Bigsby on it; a truly quixotic choice of gear in the early 60's).

The old Magnatones achieved this effect using metal oxide varistors as voltage controlled resistors. This part has been unavailable for years except NOS, so I will be interested how the vibrato has been implemented. Possible the varistor has been remanufactured. I will be investigating....

Anyhow, the amps sounds great, and the vibrato is really authentic.

Don't know the UK price yet, but as the amp comes fitted with 2 Celestion Golds I expect that it won't be cheap.............

I really want to try a stereo one now.
