Two fine amps which are not getting used because of my preference for el84s.

Bought Lazy J from @guitarpolo in Feb.

It has Tayden speaker, VAC, reverb and trem and NOS valves. Plus Roqsolid cover.

£1850

The Swart I bought from Coda just before Xmas. It has NOS 6V6s.

Looking for £1500.

I am on Kent/E Sussex border.

Not really looking for trades but would consider a top quality 15-25watter Marshally combo.

PS

I have cheekily "borrowed" Guitarpolos pix of Lazy J. Hope that's OK. And if pix don't show, bear with me. I am notoriously twatish with Photobucket.

Are you looking for an outright sale or would you be open to gear with cash added?

Ideally I'm looking for a sale. But if you've got something low wattage and Marshally I might well be interested. Not really looking for much else, I'm afraid.

The two amps are quite different tonally, mainly because the Swart is not really a tweed at all. It has a much tighter bass and in general reminds me more of a blackface Fender. It has a stock Mojotone BV25 speaker. I actually prefer it to the Lazy J. But possibly because I've realised the tweed tone really isn't my thing. All PMs replied to.

  • I've just bought a Princeton Reverb and a Cornell Plexi 7.... I can't buy 3 amps in a fortnight....No. I'm not doing it. It's outrageous.

  • I am tempted by the Lazy J.... I've been playing with the Cornell this evening & lovely as it is, I'm wondering if I'm going to use it. The thing is I'm thinking about another guitar as well. ... So it boils down to the Lazy J or a guitar. What to do?

@strummybrummie ; sorry to be a bad influence, but the lazy j could possible be the last amp you'll ever buy, so i'd go with that... also, to miss out the long waiting list is a plus too :p

Out of interest blacksheep what is your amp of choice if u don't mind me asking since you prefer el84s. I'm tempted by the lazy j, played the j 40 & loved it but was too much for me at the time. Clearly you've got some great amps so just curious what you weapon of choice is over those two?

Dr Z Maz 18 with 2x10. The amp I always go back to. But like many forumites I am tormented by the fear there might be something better out there. Pathetic, as my wife constantly tells me.

@StrummyBrummie swap your princeton for my La Cabronita Tele, leaving you able to get the Lazy J?

You could try mentioning it's same as women buying a new lipstick that's a subtly different shade of pink or getting the latest mascara that's an even blacker black. :)
