I tried that but it looks like some of the finish came off the guitar:

Yellow dusters. One wrapped around the neck of each guitar when not in use, used to wipe strings after playing. A few more for general cleaning and fretboard oiling.

I use the finest cloth made from baby Peruvian unicorn tail clippings. That or an old t shirt, whichever is closest.
Yes but do they improve the sound?

  • In the carcare section of tescos (not in the pfs though) they do a 2 pack of soft white cotton cloths for 2quid - much better than the microfibre.

It simply HAS to be micro-fibre.  Something like £4 for 4 in Sainsbury's / Homebase /etc..  One of the great inventions of the century... (I mean that)

No bits, no lint at all.  I even use them (the slightly more expensive window-cleaning ones) for removing dust off the surface before varnishing having got so pissed off that purpose-made 'tack rags' left bits all over the place...

I use the best cloths money can buy. Old socks and T-shirts.Those things they sell at an inflated price with a guitar related logo are a waste of money. They're usually too small and shed fluff. .

Wisdom. I use an old Everton sock. Works a treat.
    Good move!
Incidentally I use a Liverpool scarf to wipe my arse :)

Another microfiber lover here, 3 for £1 at poundland/ home bargains etc are superb, I even use them cut up to apply Tru Oil, Farecla G3 compound and Maguires Ultimate Compound on my guitars, excellent!

Is that Meguiars more abrasive than T Cut?

    No, less so.
It's a final use compound, I normally go up to 1000 grit wet n dry, then G3 and Maguires last for an incredible shine, smells great too, like sweeties therefore the wife doesn't mind me stinking out the kitchen :)

People clean their guitars? I mean the body of them, not just the fingerboard when it's full of crap.

Right, thanks. I just wondered because they call it a compound. I'll have to give it a try.
