ps3 not playing ?

hi guys and gals
just got a unused 160gb ps3 console and tried to play ps2 original games and message comes up incompatible ? I thought ps3 played ps2 games? or am I being thick?

They removed the feature from the slims (I assume that's what you have). Damn you Sony.

Yeah, only the very early fat ps3s played PS2 games.

thanks for comments,yes it's a slim one,but never mind,a good friend gave me it :-) so can't complain.....

Only way you will be playing ps2 games is by buying the available ones from the psn store.
