Just bite the bullet and get a used Nocaster. You'd not regret it.

Whichever option you could get a hold of (New old stock, closet classic, or relic) they are an absolute steam train of a guitar.

The finishes (on the one's I've seen/played/sometimes owned) are dead thin, the lacquer on the back of the neck is almost none existent on my Esquire through play wear, not the finishers work.

And the Nocaster neck. It's a love or hate. I love the profile. Massive. I have no issue with the 7.25" radius either, although I do understand of late they've been putting them out with 9" due to demand, may be wrong. My Allparts Fat necks are 'nearly there' on my partsa's, so I'm happy.

I've not played one that didn't sound bang on (I know, subjective). Brilliant gigging tools too.

Only if one's trying to be a twat after the 19th! I don't like a mega low action anyway, and I'm not playing Vai et al, so I've had no bother with 7.25". I find it much more agreeable than 12" to be honest. (That could've been funny).

If you're planning on bouts of sustained drawn out soloing, then perhaps it's not for you?

    I love 'em though.  :)

Go and try one, you'd know either way the minute you pick one up. I'm always keeping an eye out for the CS Strat's they did with the Nocaster profile.

They've been making Nocasters with a 9.5" radius board ever since the first Cunetto models in the mid 90s. As far as I'm aware they've made many more over the years with 9.5" than 7.25" boards because that's what most people prefer, as you can get a lower action and bend more freely higher up the neck. I much prefer 9.5" boards personally, but each to their own.

What are the 'pure vintage' post 2012 52' reissues?

Lighter tint and basically a nocaster neck.

I know Thomann have the avri 52 (which may be the 'pure vintage') for around £1100...
