 ---  Gibson ES-135,  US Made 1998 - serial no:91918341

      £1,199

Excellent condition, just few minor marks.
This is a gorgeous looking and amazing sounding guitar, suitable for blues, jazz, rock'n'roll and everything else really.
 IMO, the ES-135, with her
THIN semi-hollowed body, sounds and feels the same  as ES-335.

If you are looking for a ES-335 type guitar but you don't want to compromise for a cheaper brand such Epiphone, Vintage, etc..than Gibson ES135 is the perfect choice!

Check out this guitar in action on Youtube:

With a florentine cutaway, a trapeze tailpiece, two P-100 pickups (stacked humbuckers with P-90 covers) with two tone and volume controls and a  three-way switch.
The body itself and neck were again of similar construction to the ES-335, being built from laminated maple but with an unbound rosewood fingerboard with dot-style fret position markers

Here is what Gibson Guitars wrote me when enquired about the serial no:
"Your guitar serial no. 91918341, was made at the  Nashville Plant, TN, USA July 10th, 1998 Production Number: 41"

Original case in great condition, however the center lock doesn't stay locked. Easy to fix,  I would guess (repaired or replaced..) but I have never been bothered as the case stays solid closed with in the rest of the locks.

  • Meh, so they're not either, but they sound closer to P90s than HB's.

Anyway, we're getting sidetracked. It's a cool guitar, (in the wrong sub-forum) and can easily stand on it's own, but it's not a 335 alternative. An ES-330 one though perhaps...

Doesn't the ES-135 have a centre block like an ES-335? Except it's made from balsa/chromyte.

Its a 335 with P90's alternative.  Does have a centre block very early ones had mahogany, later ones chromyte as @guitarmonkey said.

I've tried these with P100's and to me those pickups are a bit dead, not as lively as a P90, not as clear as a PAF style humbucker.

Tried another that had P90's installed and it was a fantastic guitar ...Definitely a "335" with P90's .... regret not buying it.

Ooh, does that mean that it's at my house then ?

I ask because I generally find that most guitars end up sounding the same in my hands... but not neccessarily in a positive way..:-)

Those 135's are lahhvvly guitars. My mate bought a black one with his first full time job out of Uni about 16-17 years back.
Don't think his SG has come out of it's case since...

First up - wrong forum - but that has already been said.

Second - the 135 doesn't have a center block does it?  So I think you are cutting both guitars short in making a comparison.

  • Stunning looker, but the op vanished.

Couldn't face the shame of accidentally posting in the wrong section... We might have missed a golden member there, guys and gals. It's something we will all face one day.

They still do go for less that £1000, I was having a look yesterday. In fact this one is only just over that figure on eBay now.
