Just received an Epi 56 Standard Pro in Chigaco blue and very nice it is too but...how opaque would you expect the top to be? The Goldtop I has was totally opaque and had a deep gloss finish. On this one the finish is quite patchy and you can see the undercoat, presumably white or similar, through it. You have to look but it's there unlike the Goldtop.
Is this par for the course or does it go back?

    Had a good look today and it's the wood grain so the finish isn't opaque at all.  Build quality is shit too so its going back to Germany.
