Ok so I bought his LP from @streethawk in Northern Ireland. He packed it up fit for a nuclear winter and kept me fully updated until it arrived - top man.

Its got the odd marks on it as he put in the ad, but I just see it as a very very light relic. Stops me worrying about leaving it lying around with the kids about :)

Three areas to address on it. First, general setup wasn't to my style but raising the bridge and tightening the truss rod fixed that. Second, couldn't get the lower 3 strings to intonate anywhere near accurately - not enough adjustment even with the saddles fully back. Fortunately I remembered hitting this before. Don't know what happens to some strings to cause this but put on fresh strings and now intonation is spot on. Third area is pickups. Slash pickups were new to me. Neck is great with overdrive but the bridge is tame to my ears. Put a Seymour Duncan SH-14 in last night as it was in the first compartment of my pickup box that I opened and as an SD pickup I thought give it a go. I'll be trying some other pickups in the next week or two - Gibson Livebuckers and Gibson Burstbuckers, plus some Corsa Manalishis. Then maybe some Classic57s or Stormy Mondays. Lets see what other pickups I've bought and forgotten about :)

Thanks again to @streethawk! Cheers!

    Until we see pictures, as far as we're concerned, this is what you are doing now:

    I use to have a 2002 standard that looked just like that. I like the slash pickups personally

    Nice!
     so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

    Very nice indeed.

    Even better once you get the pickguard on.  ;)

    Pickguard on an LP is like the having the plastic hood up on a convertible - just wrong.

    Full credit to @streethawk - he described it perfectly accurately and his photos were honest. I guess folks were put off by some of the marks, like where someone made marks by the volume knobs to act as pointers. But if you'd seen this guitar secondhand in a shop and played it then you'd just think it was played in and been gigged a few times. Its a great guitar :)

    I like the worn look! Plus it's in very good nick where it counts.

    Unless it's a goldtop then it looks wrong without one.

    Pickups changed to Burstbucker 2 in the neck and BB3 in the bridge. Intended to try others but it sounds so good that I'm leaving the BB's in for a while :) Thanks again to @streethawk!

    Other way round for me. I don't mind a pick-guard on a Goldtop but it seems wrong to cover up a nice wood grain with one.

    I remember when Streethawk ordered that from China and I was amazed at how stunning it looked then. Still does.

     Seriously I was quite tempted but for the 60s profile. Great price and lovely looking guitar.

    I think you misread my post we have the same opinion

    Goldtop = yes
    Sunburst = no
