Out of Character GAS

I have a good acoustic and an electric that I love… This should have totally killed my GAS, only it hasn't. 

My GAS, which used to be ENTIRELY directed at Les Paul Juniors (which I now own) is now going in strange and unexpected directions- much like water out of a hose when you block it with your finger!

Currently it's hollow bodied guitars (I play unplugged on the sofa quite a lot: the LP Jr is too harsh, my acoustic is too loud. A hollowbody- probably an Ibanez Artcore AG75 sounds, looks and plays great, isn't too loud AND could be amplified… see how I'm TRYING to justify it?!?)

Then yesterday I dropped into my local store & saw this (it's even better in the flesh):

I don't DO strats, I've NEVER liked them… and yet!

What out of character guitars do you find yourself lusting after?

I just bought a 30-fret Ibanez after getting my Junior... the Junior was perhaps slightly more out-of-character though.

I hate Floyd Rose whammies. Hate them. They're ugly and you simply cannot rest your hand on them without sounding like the Jesus and Mary Chain off their collective tits.

However - I'd love an EVH Striped Series or a Chapman ML1 Hot Rod...

I have major gas for an explorer, a mahogany one in natural. And I am in negotiations for one right now... Totally out of the blue as I'm a les Paul or tele sorta guy. It will definitely be called my 'mid-life crisis' guitar!

Well watch out for a NGD from me, I'm in that horrible GAS purgatory where we can't complete the deal for a couple of days and I'm certain that in the meantime some bugger will gazump me!

I'm there too. I've found one of the hollowbodies I liked in the shop for a good price on Gumtree... But can't pull the trigger until I sell my Melody Maker! This is the worst part of the guitar-go-round.

The strat is gorgeous in the flesh, but Ive convinced myself it'll play like every other strat I've played, so that's not really tempting. Honest.

@Nunogilberto the EVH Striped guitars have non-floating Floyds so you can rest your hand on them all you want!

I agree with the people mentioning Explorers, even though it's quite in character for me and would fit nicely with my Flying V... the one I want in particular atm is this Edwards copy:

I have a Strat, with 3 S/C pickups and no Floyd Rose.

All my other guitars have Floyds and H/B pick ups.......
