I'd be curious as to what people consider a 'not silly' price these days.
These are now going for circa $2k.

I have tried really hard to hear it on net and real life but I just cannot tell the difference between the real deal and J Rockett Archer
.......in fact I CANNOT TELL THE DIFFERENCE between the real thing and a Red Jasper with some tweaking ...,let alone once a bass and drums are going
Maybe its just me......and I am totally open minded -I don't think the price matters if it makes a difference but I just cannot hear it no matter how hard I try ...........I'm certain an audience won't especially with humbucker guitars

I think price is based on the number built and rarity of certain models. More than the sound quality.

The whole Klon thing makes a nice story but is any pile of chips and components worth the money. As said the Klon klones are pretty close in isolation and the difference irrelevant in a band setting

The Archer is very very nice. I know it's like some sort of sacrilege on here these days but did anyone else watch the Andertons test on three Klon type pedals?

if it's possible to sell one for 3K, what sort of price is "sensible" ?

one that will allow the buyer to double their money ?

Maybe I create a new thread to discuss all things Klon, rather than threadjacking, which I acknowledge I started?

If you have the money to pay $3k for a mild overdrive pedal, more power to you. I think its complete insanity.

    Noise, randomness, ballistic uncertainty.

  • Better buying a KTR, look at the "Klon KTR, Centaur Gold and Centaur Silver Comparison Demo with Bill Finnegan and Taylor Barefoot" on Youtube. I couldn't tell the difference testing a Centaur and a KTR a few weeks ago....

I've owned 3 original Klon Centaurs. They are incredible drive pedals, and probably the best around for low/medium boost maybe 10-15 years ago. I have also owned 2 Klon KTRs and 2 ARC effects Klone V2s. The ARCs were far better than the KTRs. The KTRs sounded thin and weak to me. The only difference between the Klone and Centaur after a bit of tweaking was the frequency roll off at the bottom end. I preferred the Centaur over the Klone - but only just. There are so many cool low gain/boost pedals out now though, the Centaurs are gone and am now using a Rokett Blue Note. It's a step up from Centaur to me sound wise. Take from this what you will.

How much would you pay for an authentic gold horsie Klon Centaur enclosure with my feces smeared inside right up to all the corners
