iPad recording issue

Hiya. I sat down last night to record my Solo of the Month entry, but my iPad kept glitching. I imported the backing track as a loop (which I've done before hundreds of times) and it plays fine, but as soon as I went to record it slowed right down and would not make any sound other than clicks and static. Nothing else is running and the iPad has the latest iOS update. I've also tried rebooting it and going straight to GB.

I'm using an iPad 3 (the first one with the Retina display), and a Focusrite iTrack Solo. I'm trying to record into the Audio Recorder in GarageBand so I don't go through their amp models.

The chain is guitar -> pedal board -> Blackstar HT5 4x12 emulated out -> Focusrite -> iPad

Anyone have any ideas?

There is also a Garageband update, did you get that?

I'll double check, but I generally keep everything updated.

It's an intermittent fault anyway, and it's gone long enough to allow me to record some stuff.
