Baritone conversions seem to simply be getting lighter strings and tuning higher, a-a or b-b seems common, whereas the vi is normally e-e an octave lower than guitar.

@loosemoose the conventional way to tune a bass vi is exactly like a normal guitar but with every string one octave lower (so the E, A, D and G strings correspond exactly to a standard bass guitar). If you baritone one then typically you'd go B-b which would be a fifth higher than standard bass VI tuning.
