We love the Lakes. A great excuse to wander around aimlessly looking at stuff, and use fuel driving around aimlessly looking at stuff, without being annoyed at the aimless bit. 

Myself and the (now) wife were staying at a lovely hotel lodge thing, enjoying a night out in the local hostelries, when my (then) sister in law's bessie mate walked in, on a lasses weekend to the Lakes, and said "Hiya, who's this you're with then, 'cause it doesn't look like Linda.....". My affair rumbled. Memorable.

Nice one, which bit are you staying in, I think Keswick is one of the nicest, but they're all good.

I'm staying in Loweswater so fairly near Keswick. 

It's a regular haunt as the wifes family have access to a farmhouse up there.

I thought you went down (ooh err) in Lakes.

Lovely place though with lots of fine tranquil scenery, beers/ales and nice wee cafes. Oh forgot excellent motorcycling roads too.
