Didn't see that one coming, especially as he very publicly slated Savile and the culture at the BBC when these investigations started. All will be revealed I guess.

The BBC seems to have employed more sex offenders than the Syrian army. There has to have been some sort if cartel of rapists running personnel and looking out for their own.

I think the bbc has a lot to answer for all this.
It seems the bigger ratings a particular celebrity gained the more they could get away with.
Lets face it, most of these celebs in the '70's had big audiences whether on the tv or radio.

Pretty massive corporate failure having about half your stars arrested for sexual crime. You'dhave to be really incompetent not to notice Saville's behaviour for starters. The guy is practically the most successful rapist in UK history. I cant really see anyone getting away with that on company premises in most workplaces.

Well exactly.
Cant remember which programme it was on but it was suggested that he could basically get away with what he wanted due to the fact he could pull in shedloads of viewers on primetime tv saturday night and the bbc new it.

I honestly doubt a private company could survive such massive bad exposure. Once Saville's estate runs out of money the BBC could well be on the hook for a lot of lawsuits, especially as a lot of on premise shenanigans occured. The NotW was shut over relativley minor privacy invasion. I cant see how Saville could have survived without some degree of management complicity. Given the profile of some of the arrests expecting more would be logical.

On the whole the abuse scandal hasn't actually hit the BBC as a business too hard.  The too most high profile people to be condemned are Saville and Hall.  No-one re-runs Jim'll Fix It or It's A Knockout and they aren't going to be big DVD shifters.  It would have been really curious if one of the national treasures of sitcom had been outed how they would have reacted.  Would they still re-run the shows which bring in big revenue?  Similarly would they still sell the DVDs?  Considering the gravity of what went on so far from a business point of view it could have been a lot worse.

They still have a few court cases to get through, not to mention a license fee negociation. Polls have shown a big fall in public support. Can you imagine if that was sky?
