He does look like he's being a bit of a dick, but since he doesn't look like some random punter taking pics and getting in everyone's way but more like a proper snapper that the band have asked to take publicity photos for them, I don't see the problem. Unless he does it right through the entire gig rather than just one song or so, of course… and even then it's the band's call if they invited him.

looks more like a band promo shoot than a gig tho, ive been involved in a couple of both this year and band shoots which usually coincides with a practice looks pretty similar to that vid... actual gig tho has been no flash and a 50mm 1.4 and 15mm fisheye..

and never at an actual gig shoot would/should you be jumping from spot to spot like that.

True. I also think the band most likely gave the audience prior notice a couple of times before he started.

I wouldn't be wearing a "comedy" wig for a start.

And if I was the photographer, I'd buy a Nikon D4 which is supposed to be an excellent camera for low light conditions, thus not blinding people in bands....

It looks like they have asked him to do some promo shots and that's what he is doing. If the audience has paid to be there it's possibly a bit off, but that's the band's fault.

I've had a guy stuff a massive video camera in my face during a solo.. that was a bit off putting..

the time it gets on your tits is when you need eye contact with the bassist or drummer and the press guy is in the way..

it's not unusual for them to take hundreds of shots of a gig

you play.. they take pics..

so you just get on with it..

The photo's justify the method of taking them. Very good work. I was mightily impressed as to how fast his flash could recycle. I have a Nikon SB600 which is nowhere near as fast. I did have two SB800's but got rid when I was redundant a few years ago. I can't remember how fast they were.
