I read about it in WSC's History of WW2. Not nice but it had to be done. French intransigence and Darlan's fence sitting brought it on them. The French had already shown their duplicitous nature after they had told WSC there were backup troops for when the Germans had circumvented the maginot line, and when WSC asked where were they the French just shrugged and said "Aucune". WSC was dead right not to trust Darlan.
