For anyone who doesn't know, I have a little ep that's been out for a while under the name The Lands With Metal Beasts.

It's kinda sludge doom metal type stuff. These were songs I wrote for the band that we ended up not using, but I thought they were too good to not do anything with.

Cheers guys. I'm gonna re-record them at some point, so that everything is a bit more consistent and 'album-like' - got a few other songs I need to finish sitting right here too!

It's a bit more modern and proggy sounding than I was expecting from the sludge doom description.  But I like it a lot.

So I've decided that I'm gonna be putting together a full album for this project. I've already got 51minutes of material, with a few songs still needing to be finished. I'm currently figuring out my home studio recording setup, to give me the capabilities to record quietly and also capture the DI for re-amping later on down the line.

We've got a TD-20 at the office, so I'll probably do the drum parts there. I might even put some vocals on it. This is gonna be my main creative focus for the next few months.

Watch this space I suppose is all I'm saying!

and then of course once you've written it it would seem a shame not to do a few shows so you'll put together a new line up and before you know it you've rustled up a few like minded musicians...and wouldn't you know after a few gigs everyone is really energized and has great ideas for a second album....you'll never be free....never!

I keep thinking this genre isn't really my thing, but every time I listen, I really enjoy what I'm hearing. Maybe I need to think less often..!!

No worries man. Yeah get exploring though - honestly... metal and this sort of sludge type stuff gets a bad rap...coz people think it's negative or whatever.... but there is some great stuff out there. Try Mastodon if you haven't already.
