I don't think Apple are dropping Firewire.

There is still plenty of documentation for Firewire with El Capitan: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH22216?locale=en_US

I've had zero issues with the Firewire to Thunderbolt connector for running my Apogee hardware.

This looks like an Apogee promotion, rather than something Apple are pushing- if I'm wrong please let me know as I'll need to upgrade some hardware.

Fortunately my Rosetta's will still work via AES/EBU into a new interface.

Either way, I'm pretty annoyed. Such is life I guess. At least they are doing that trade in offer but I really would rather not spend £400 on an interface I don't really need.
