Offset "(Emp) - a little heavy on the hyperbole."
Sorry to be all cheerful, but I can only see an acceleration of corruption, greed and a lust for power at any cost.
The rate technology is accelerating and governments track records on the abuse and misuse of technology will probably lead to a scientific tyranny. Corporatocracy will be the norm.
The value of human life in comparison to money will decrease even further.
I want to be optimistic, but I don't think a Fairy is going to come along and sprinkle some Magic Dust to cure everything.
I don't even want to look 10 years into the future.
@ESBlonde
I agree with what you say, but I didn't compare it to 100 years ago, I said it will decrease "further" in the future "than the present state"
It applies worldwide, whether it is due to money or religion or whatever else. Only in the recent past have we had atrocities in Rwanda, Darfur and recently in Syria. Many more to mention too.
In this country, it seems to me things are going full circle in terms of poverty. We have had ups and downs in terms of boom and bust over the last 50 years, periods of affluence and periods of recession. It appears to me now that we are being led down a long slippery path back into poverty ie: Fuel Prices, Food Prices etc.
We keep getting false promises of "recovery" and the Government manipulate the figures for unemployment and the inflation rate of 2.5% that was reported the other day is a complete fucking joke.
Sure, lets bang loads of useless shit into the Consumer Price Index to hide the real issues. People NEED Food, Water and Fuel, they are the main things we need and those have shot up waaaaay over 2.5% in the last few years.
You can't even hope to get decent interest rates if you save your money. We are forever behind inflation(the real figure) with no hope of matching it, never mind getting ahead of it.
Pensions are a complete joke. 20 years ago you could probably get a 50% Lump Sum, what is the most you get now 25%?
So the greedy fuckers just hope you kick the bucket.
It's a rigged casino, we lose by design.
Every year, the working people of this country have been kicked in the bollocks by the Government one way or another and for the sole purpose of keeping the average man down. In my opinion, it's getting worse and because we just keep greasing up and taking it, it will keep getting even worse.
Instead of Workhouses, we will have people working for nothing(benefits) for large corporations under the guise of some back to work scheme. These people will mostly be unemployed through no fault of their own.
Oh, then we have the Prison System in the USA. I'll use this an example from as my hand is aching from typing. 2:24 onwards is most interesting.
This is just the thin end of the wedge, there's too much to write.
The quote from 1984 is looking more realistic now than ever before, in my opinion.
"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face.....Forever"
