Seems a bit silly. Also, patent on making a slightly longer jack? Really? Still, the actual price in the UK (rather than RRP) seems not too bad as far as cables go.

the pic showing "normal" connection is surely highly over exaggerated........ if that were the case, the bloody thing wouldnt stay in
just because you don't, doesn't mean you can't

They can screw up the jacks, and the cables break.

Overhyped, overpriced rubbish in my opinion.

I was looking at it thinking 'this is a problem I've never had', wondered if anyone else had tales of jacks jumping out of their sockets.

There's a clue in their own sales blurb:

".....jacks used over the last 60 years......."

Now call me a Luddite, but if something's been in use for 60 years, it's probably fine as it is! :)

Yeah, I've had a couple of their 'premium' leads in the past....had to repair every end...they're only used at home now

Patent pending.  Doesn't really mean anything - if there isn't a novel idea it won't be granted.

It does sort of, patent officers are supposed to check that the invention can actually do what is claimed. (One reason they often look for science or engineering graduates.)

  • The tip of his jack is closer to what is called a Bantam Jack which originated in telephone exchanges and is now often used in studio patch bays so no chance of a patent

The inventor has to disclose the details which show how it's done, yes - but the percentage of patents that make money for their inventors is frighteningly low (something like 7% iirc). So there are plenty granted which turn out to be not any good if making money is your yardstick.
