Most key changes in a song?

I guess that the odd prog epic with half an hour of widdle goes through a fair few changes, but most shorter songs don't seem to change all that much.

I found a short song and it must change key about 8 times in less than 5 minutes! Pretty mad. It does work though. Not sure about posting a link as it's a Christian vocal band so not exactly something that would go down well here!

Any other songs with a lot of key changes?

No idea about the key changes - but Michael Manring's "The Enormous Room" has 14 tuning changes in it - with the tuning changes themselves being part of the performance.

Been a while since I listened to it though to look for keys.

  • I have a memory of @Col_Decker saying One and Only has the most chords for a three minute pop song, if that counts.

Johnny Cash I walk the line has two key changes so that's roughly one every minute.

There are quite a few songs which go up in key every time around the progression. The Blues Brothers version of Think and Beyonce's Love On Top are two which spring to mind.

Wiki says Dizzy by Tommy Roe has 11.

Count the 3 changes in the first 40 seconds.

  • River of Breaklights by Julian Casablancas sort of pivots through quite a few keys in terms of chords but I'm not sure they would count as proper key changes?

    It's a bugger to play I find

There was a GNR song- Coma I think- where I saw in an interview that Izzy Stradlin claimed it had changes so complex he used a chord sheet.

Then again he could have used it just cause he was stoned.

Lol yes I remember it was right pain if I messed it up as there was no chance of dropping back in, I had to just sit it out till the verse came back around again.
