Search function...

What's Hot
Not been around here for long so not sure if this has been asked for before or is not possible.

An option to search by sub-forum, so for example, if I want to search for something just in the classifieds section, or maybe even as specific as the amps section in the classifieds.

Most useful for finding for sale threads and not having lots of discussion threads of the item you're looking for.

With apologies, the search function isn't particularly visually appealing, nor very intuitive.

But you *can* do what you want to do.

Run the basic search, get the results back, and then you'll see an "adv options" button at the top of the search results.  Click that, and you can filter the search to a selected section of the forum.

We do need to improve that.

    Thanks, I see it now.

I thought the "more options" was the only stuff that was available.

I'm not seeing that option? (search within a specific forum)

Also it seems to show the results oldest first?

Would definitely be helpful to improve the search function :)

  • Ok, i type 'Fender' in the search box, the results appear, i press 'more options', i see:

Newer than: This Week; This  Year etc
Title filter: Titles only; Threads with replies
Display results as: Classic; Table; Sleek; Simple
    Phrase match: any/all/extended

What else is there? I'm not seeing any 'search within forum _ '  ?

Use the Adv Search button rather than Mor Options

  • oh right, I see it now thanks.

that is an extremely well disguised advance search button!
is there no easy fix to make search a bit more intuitive?

  • I see you have the new 'Traders forum' up and running which is great.

To make it work you really need to get the search function improved. I don't want to go on and on about Basschat, but I have to as it worls well - so if you go to the traders section on that site:

See how in the 'search' box top right it by default says search 'this forum' ? - well that makes it easy peasy to find the feedback post for the trader you are looking for.

So a few tweaks to the search box, without it having to be 'advanced search' would be great. :)
