Disney are a very successful business venture, if they bought Star wars it was a purely commercial decision.

The fact that so many great stories can be moved from one era/setting to another is a well established fact a bit like music really, only 12 notes and all that.

Is Pirates of the Carribean worth watching? I'm not a massive cinema fan you've probably guessed.

I really enjoyed the Pirates films. Well made and a nice bit of escapism. Deffo not Oscar material, but good fun.

I’m so bored I might as well be listening to Pink Floyd

    Swash buckling, wise cracking, fun.

The first is a master-piece of fun action film. The next three I love but got slightly less of a great reception from others, I would personally recommend watching all four... but lots of people would recommend watching the first.

    The first is great fun.
The second is good, but there were a few too many ideas in it - it needed a trim.
The third is a total dog's breakfast;  there is no plot - things just happen; there is no dialogue - people just say things.
On the basis of my experience of the third, I avoided the fourth.

I watched the fourth... great imagery in parts - but not the story.

But Pirates of the Caribbean was more 'may the farce be with you' ... :-)

The most impressive things about the fourth were, in no particular order: Ian McShane; Penelope Cruz; how huge numbers of mermaids can be shown swimming naked underwater without one single nipple being seen at any point.

    It wasn't too bad actually...

"Take these three items, some WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone." - Walt Kowalski

"Only two things are infinite - the universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein
