in fairness up to 1200-1500g wet and dry followed by 0000 wire wool gets you most of the way there - but micromesh is amazing and you can use it for polishing frets so well worth the investment

I go through the grades of regular abrasive, then to micromesh.

It will look amazing once you've done it.

yes, sorry - the question was what to go to

You need to got to at least 800g wet and dry before starting on 1500g micromesh and working up to 12000g.  The set I have is 1500, 1800, 2400, 3200, 4000, 8000, 12000.

but its worth remembering micromesh grades are not equivalent to normal grades.   I believe the 1500 micromesh is equivalent to 6-800 wet and dry - maybe even lower

Yes, I reckon 1500 = 600.

I don't go beyond 600 with abrasive before going to micro mesh.

3200 grade has roughly the same effect as 600 wet and dry so I start with that generally. Great stuff though. My frets look amazing.
