Nut question

What's Hot
tele type guitar, 9.5 radius fretboard. I bought a nut off of eBay and was just going to sling it on, but having looked at it the nut has a strange profile, in that it slopes higher towards the thicker strings end. This is obviously not particularly in keeping with the fretboard shape. I rummaged through my bits box and found a different style nut which seems to roughly follow the 9.5 curve. Is it a good idea to use that one? I'd prefer to use the new one.

Fit the new one. Cut the slots almost as low as you want them, then file down the top of your nut to the desired height, sand smooth and polish.

Finally cut the slots to their final depth and polish them with emery paper.
