I've finally got around to buying MGSV, but I hardly have time to play it, what with work and a girlfriend and gigs. Also picked up Red Dead Redemption at the same time (yes, I'm late to that party too).

great game, very atmospheric - especially when you can hear a baddie moving about but don't know where they are

There was a thread on here about beta release and I remember that it didn't do very well.
When I first heard about new Doom coming out I was super excited but now I'm not so sure.

When I first heard about new Doom coming out I was super excited but now I'm not so sure.

i never played the beta so cannot comment about that.

the campaign itself though is fab. it has elements of all the dooms in it,but way more relentless than doom 3 (it's a damn sight faster paced for one thing). the monsters also fight amongst themselves like the old days. when things kick off with the monsters appearing it gets quite hectic (just like the original games). the game looks great imho and there are also some new versions of the monsters as well as the old favourites.

i personally am loving the game and will give it 9/10 (and i've played almost every version of doom).

oh and then there is the snapmap (where you can make your own levels and upload them to the doom servers so anyone no matter what system can play them). bloody fantastic 

edit forgot to add that the new glory kills are great bloody fun also. and you can upgrade both your weapons/armour and skills as you go progress.

It's a fiver more for PC but the higher resolutions and better controller options beckon.

Been catching up on PS Plus freebie this weekend.

Gone Home is good in a storytelling way, though maybe a little underwhelming in the end.

NBA2k16 is just baffling. I'm awful at it and it doesn't appear to have any tutorial or arcade mode to help me stand a chance.

Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate, on the other hand is really great. Less of the R Type kinda thing I was expecting and actually quite puzzle-solvey and really very well done.

I am playing Xenoblade Chronicles X. Quite pretty, ace combat system, huge world, annoying companions, impenetrable plot.

And Elite Dangerous, though I've not gotten far yet.

Also tried Splatoon on Wii U. My god the controls are weird. I like the idea but can't get the hang of it on any level.

What is your verdict on Doom then?

I've seen that it's for 29quid currently on amazon. It has good reviews but I remember the beta version was terrible.
