Greg Lake I Believe in Father Christmas

Does anyone know if Greg lakes I Believe in Father Christmas was played in a different tuning?
It's an easy song to play but there's some nice little chords and licks being played that make the song stand out.
I can't find any reference to them on Google. Just the usual shite tab sites that usually get most songs wrong

  • According to song facts the bottom E is tuned down to D.

I could hear that, but given there's a coupl of nice little fills in there I wondered if it was tuned something like daggad

Turns out its nowhere near as hard to play as it first sounds, it's two guitars playing in harmony that gives the song its distinctive sound.
Both guitars are tuned to concert with the bottom E dropped to D as Erictheweary suggested.
After searching for years to find out how it was done, I found this tutorial on YouTube.
Once listening to this, I nailed it minutes flat... Nice one

  • In my head, without listening to it again, I thought it was probably a 12 string. The harmony guitars thing makes sense.
