I saw a kit for £14.99 on amazon.. will that be ok does anyone know ?
that's why I thought I'd ask!  I've seen some kits when I've looked in the past, but don't know enough to tell if it'll be any good.  Something for £10-25 would be great - have no idea what quality that would buy?

As a complete newb I went Ampmaker as well, P1800, the instructions are very complete and the testing stages helped catch bugs early.
Cheapo soldering station that blue base Duratool one you see lots of places, it was about £13 from Farnells. Cheapo but done a load of stufff with it.

I looked up my old build thread - the photo links were broken but I fixed them:

I recently bought a nifty Hakko soldering station in the Maplins closing down sale and a decent Fluke meter off ebay, so I'm itching to start another. Can't decide between an Ampmaker P1800 (because that N5X cab deserves a proper Marshall circuit in it), or a Tweed Princeton from Modulus. I'll probably do both!
