Embedded YouTube Videos

Don't play on android chrome.

Apparently there's a setting the website can change to make it ask if you want to open the YouTube app.

They dont play natively on Android at all AFAIK, they dropped flash support. You can use Firefox with an add on called YouTube Embed2Link which works in the same way

Yes, I'm aware of that.  But in fact they do play (embedded) on all other websites, or at the very least ask if I want to open the YouTube app.  I can't even press and hold to copy a link.  It would actually be preferable to just show the url.

AFAIK there's no reason why they shouldn't play (somehow) without needing a third party app plus an add-on.
On Android 5.1.1 with the latest updates installed for Chrome and YouTube.

I stuck with Firefox as it seemed to work as Chrome never did for me.. Just tried Chrome on my phone and clicked a video, goes to Youtube placeholder, click again and it just opens the video in the Youtube app. Have you tried clearing the app defaults?

I have to copy link url, paste it in the YouTube app and delete all bar the video number.

    A workaround at least.
